DCA no longer runs its own Insurance Scheme for members. The Scheme was discontinued when cover expired on 31st December 2005. Responsibility for the provision of replacement cover from 1st January 2006 was transferred to the BCA. All members and member clubs previously insured under the DCA Scheme should have been contacted to confirm their membership of the national scheme and to pay for their 2006 cover.

The reason for the demise of the DCA Insurance Scheme was basically one of cost. Till the end of 2005 it was cheaper for members to insure through DCA. However, the renewal terms offered for 2006 made it impossible for DCA to remain the cheaper option, despite its better liability Policy. Widespread defection to the reduced rates and increased flexibility of the national Scheme was anticipated, and DCA would have faced running its Scheme at a serious financial loss.
